Results of the eighth survey...

I let this one go for quite some time - much longer than any of the others. The grand total was 139. If this skews your gameplay at home any, I apologize.

On with the results...

1) What fictional literary character do you best identify with?

Cinderella [9]
Huck Finn [6]
Alice in Wonderland [5]
Snow White [5]
Tom Sawyer [5]
Goofy [4]
Mickey Mouse [4]
Scarlet O'Hara [4]

By "literary" I was hoping for more classic characters - not Disney adaptations, but that's ok. Sometimes I feel distinctly like I've crossed through the looking glass at work myself. Kudos to answers of Nancy Drew, Oliver Twist and Grendel. Anti-kudos to answers of Scooby Doo, Shakespeare and "blue clues".

2) Which of the 10 Commandments do you obey the least?

Thou shalt not lie. [33] Not a commandment
Thou shalt not take the Lords name in vain. [21] 3rd Commandment
Thou shalt honor thy mother and thy father. [12] 5th Commandment
Thou shalt not steal. [11] 8th Commandment
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife. [8] 10th Commandment
Thou shalt not commit adultery. [7] 7th Commandment
Thou shalt not kill. [6] 6th Commandment
Thou shalt not covet. [6] 10th Commandment - sort of
I obey them all. [4]
Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. [4] 4th Amendment
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. [4] 1st Commandment
Thou shall not swear. [4] Not a commandment

For those of you keeping track, the missing commandments concern "any graven image, or any likeness" and the bowing down to them and " Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour" which is a very narrow case of "Thou shalt not lie". The two not-commandments that people listed are very generalized versions specific commandments in the Bible, which doesn't forbid lying, just lying against your neighbor. And swearing is ok, as long as you don't use the Lord's name to do it.

But 6 of you out there obey the commandment against killing the least. That would worry me if I felt everyone was answering these surveys with total honesty. And, for those of you out there who are worried, picking your nose and printing really bad web pages making fun of a game show, aren't covered.

My source of info for the Commandments was here .

3) Name a piece of furniture.

Couch [53]
Chair [29]
Bed [17]
Sofa [15]
Table [10]

If you want to argue the difference between a Couch and a Sofa go ahead. Just do it outside, thanks.

4) Where is a bad place to take a vacation?

New York [6]
Alaska [6]
Antarctica [5]
Cuba [5]
Iraq [5]
New Jersey [4]
North Dakota [3]
Mexico [3]
Canada [3]

A wide variety of answers. I'm presuming that people who said New York meant New York City. People also recommend avoiding the Bermuda Triangle, Euro Disney, and Cleveland, among others.

5) Describe your coworkers in one word or less.

Lazy [20]
Fun [6]
Annoying [5]
Assholes [5]
Dumb [4]
Nice [4]
Boring [3]
Friendly [3]
Funny [3]
Nosy [3]
Slow [3]
Two Faced [3]
Weird [3]

Wow. I didn't realize so many of you worked for the post office. (Just kidding. Really. Can I get my mail now?). Oddly enough very few of the words people used to describe themselves made it onto the list of coworkers, which means you folks aren't telling your coworkers about this survey.

Shame on you.

6) Name a specific work of architecture.

Eiffel Tower [19]
Leaning Tower of Pisa [11]
Empire State Building [10]
Taj Mahal [6]
Statue of Liberty [5]
Coliseum [3]
Falling Water [3]
Notre Dame [3]
Sistine Chapel [3]

Specific work of architecture. That means buildings. 9 people answered "Building", 7 answered "House" and 3 answered "Mona Lisa". Sigh.

Special consideration to the person who answered "The Brady House".

7) What did you have for lunch (afternoon meal, anyway) today?

Sandwich [29]
Hamburger [12]
Soup [10]
Pizza [8]
Turkey [6]
Nothing [5]
Salad [4]
Burrito [4]
Chicken [4]

People also ate popcorn, candy, liver, chips, hot dogs, chinese food, liver, ham, and one poor soul who was stuck with hospital food. Bummer.

LAST) Radio is a sad salvation:

AM [67]
FM [67]

A tie. An honest-to-goodness tie. I guess radio is both sad salvation and sweet illumination.
