Oh, the places you'll go...

Or won't, as the case may be. These links are more or less the places I find myself going thses days, or wish I had more time to visit, or still find amazingly useful or potentially useful. Enjoy. Or don't. It's up to you.

Music you should be listening to

Annwn. Gonzo Celtic Rock, is how they've been described. I am an official groupie, and try to see their shows a lot. I have just about everything they've released. They're good. Go see them. Often. And buy their records. Often.

Lee Press-On and the Nails. LPN (as they're abbreviatedly known as) plays, as their album is titled, Jump Swing from Hell. They put on a fantastic show, and the album ain't nothing to sneeze at either.

Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums (featuring Miss Carmen Getit). As nice, as good and as hep a bunch of musicians as you'll ever listen to. They are another of the SF Bay Area swing bands that you should seek out (there are a lot of them).

Two good talk.bizarre sites, even though I don't read the group anymore

The Talk.Bizarre 'Web Page Thing: Home pages for various & sundry t.b peoples.

Paul's web Page: Paul Vader wrote a program that tabulates votes for the best articles in talk.bizarre for the most recent month. Here are the results.

Two comics that often remind me of my job...

The Dilbert Zone: Dilbert describes my life, or at least 8 hours a day of it. Possibly also yours.

User Friendly. A lot of this very definitely describes how I feel at work - many times moreso than Dilbert.

KFJC 89.7FM information: KFJC is a way cool college radio station.

Visit the Current Middle Ages: Don't dream about the middle ages; re-create them.

Renaissance Faire Homepage: Don't dream about the renaissance. Be a part of it.

Internet Movie Database: Not as good as Halliwell's Film Guide (actually, maybe it is) but handy nonetheless.

AltaVista's Search Site. My favorite of all the Internet search sites.

The Institute of Official Cheer. I can't really explain this site, so I'll paraphrase their page. They take pop icons from the past, and re-ironize it. Irony for everybody. It's a good thing.

The Onion. The Onion is the number one (in their mind anyway) satiric news site on the web. But you knew that already.

Web Pages that Suck. A guide to good design through bad examples. Dedicated to the belief that if you see what's wrong, you'll do what's right. He's fighting a losing battle, but it's worth the effort.

The Nose's HomeCAM's page. Probably the most complete list of web cams, neatly organized. Certainly a good starting point for those who wish to see what other people are doing right now.

Word. Word is an online literary magazine that makes clever, if not overly indulgent use of net design techniques. The content more than makes up for the design flaws. It's dead now, but the old articles are still there, and worth reading.

Antioch College. This is where I spent my freshman year of college. I still miss it, really. Or, more realisticly I miss the experiences I had there. But if you think you can handle it, it's a worthwhile experience.

Welcome to the White House: Much more useful than you might expect. Texts of press briefings. What's been signed by the president. Text of speeches. Copies of historic documents. Other potentially cool stuff. All paid for by your tax dollars. You owe it to yourself to visit.
